“Mercury in Northern Pike from the Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge” is now available as a poster (click here) and on our Fish Facts Consumption Guidelines webpage at http://www.epi.hss.state.ak.us/eh/fish/.

The poster includes consumption recommendations for fresh and dried pike from the Yukon Delta NWR area.

With funding from EPA and NOAA, we continue to analyze salmon, halibut, pacific cod, sablefish, black rockfish, lingcod sheefish, and pollock for heavy metals (methyl mercury, lead, cadmium) and inorganics (PCB congeners, dioxins, furans, pesticides, inorganic arsenic, and chromium VI. Samples are collected primarily in marine waters throughout the state with some Northern pike from lakes in the Koyukuk , Kuskokwim , Yukon , and Susitina River drainages.
