Used
lube oil. The PRP has reported that approximately 1000 gallons
of used oil was discharged onto the ground. Of that quantity, approximately
100 gallons reached South Tongass Narrows by way of a storm water
drain/outfall pipe on the beach. |
| Cause |
A
three thousand (3000) gallon used oil tank with a 4” gate
valve was vandalized either late in the evening of November 27,
2004 , or the early morning of November 28, 2004 . The oil was
discharged through a 4’ long section of a 4”diameter
hose attached to the valve on the tank. |
| Time/Date
of Spill |
An
employee of S.E. Stevedoring noticed the spill at approximately
7:30 A.M. on November 28, 2004 . The oil spill was reported to
ADEC by the potential responsible party (PRP) at 8:45 A.M. on
November 28, 2004 . |
