Municipal Grants

The Alaska Municipal Water, Sewerage, and Solid Waste Matching Grant program provides partial funding and engineering support for drinking water, wastewater (sewer), solid waste and non-point source pollution projects, such as waterbody restoration and recovery. These state grants primarily assist the larger communities and boroughs in the State. Our primary services are:

  • Providing grants for facility planning and construction.
  • Assigning a project engineer to assist with plans, designs, construction and regulations.

Municipal Loans

The Alaska Clean Water Fund and the Alaska Drinking Water Fund provide loans and engineering support for drinking water, wastewater (sewer), solid waste and non-point source pollution projects, such as waterbody restoration and recovery. These programs provide loans at attractive rates (generally 1.5% for drinking water, and 1.5% for clean water loans) to cities, boroughs and qualified private water utilities. Our primary services are:

  • Providing low-interest loans up to 20 years in duration for projects or eligible portions of projects.
  • Providing refinancing of eligible projects.
  • Assigning a project engineer to assist with plans, designs, construction and regulations.
  • Assuring timely reimbursement for construction expenditures.
  • Ensuring appropriate and effective use of loan funds.
