APDES Capacity Building

With combined efforts from the Environmental Protection Agency, DEC has built on existing permitting and inspection experience to engage capacity building efforts in anticipation of full APDES program approval. DEC developed a Capacity Building Plan to ouline the past, current, and future capacity building strategies with specific goals in the areas of permitting, compliance and enforcement, staffing, recruitment and retention, training, and professional development.

The Plan will be complemented by biannual summaries updated by July 31 and January 31 of each year until full authority to administer the APDES Program transfers to the state.
