Alaska Clean Water Actions (ACWA) Grants and the
BEACH Grant Program

The ADEC Beach Grant program was established to protect public health through understanding impacts on our beaches and their recreational uses. To provide communities the information and guidelines for informing citizens about local beach health.

Beach grant monies are being offered through the ACWA grant to provide funding to local or tribal governments or non-profit groups and their communities to monitor fecal coliform and enterococci bacteria in Alaska coastal waters pre-established through ADEC's Beach Grant program (see below). The total grant will provide $100,000 to local governments, tribal entities, or non-profit groups, distributed as follows:

ACWA Grant Monitoring/Fieldwork - $100,000 to be divided among five communities. (~$16,000 to $30,000 each):

Anchor Point - Anchor Point to Happy Valley Creek or Bluff Point to Anchor Point

Haines - Portage Cove Beach, Letnikof Cove Beach or Lutak Inlet Beach

Homer/Fritz Creek – Bishop's Beach

Juneau – Auke Recreation Area, Lena Cove Beach, and Ann Coleman Road Beach

Kenai - North Kenai Beach
